Who this is for: AscendWell members and Ciba Health 1:1 patients who have a Transtek scale
Your Transtek scale sends your weight to Ciba Health over the cell network. You do not need an app, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and you do not need to press any button. Put in the batteries, set the scale on a hard, flat floor and step on it.
Steps
Step 1: Put in the batteries
The scale comes with 2 pairs of AA batteries. You need to put them in yourself. Then check that the battery icon on the screen is full.
Step 2: Check that the scale is linked to your account
Your scale may already be linked to your account when it arrives. To check:
- AscendWell members: sign in at participant.cibahealth.com and open Devices. The Transtek card shows "Connected" or "Not connected".
- Ciba Health 1:1 patients: sign in at my.cibahealth.com, open Health Metrics and select the Accounts tab. Find Weight Scale on the Transtek card.
If the scale is not connected, see How do I connect my scale to AscendWell? or How do I connect my Transtek scale in the patient portal?
Step 3: Put the scale on a hard, flat floor
Use a tile, wood or laminate floor. Carpet or an uneven floor can make your weight wrong.
Step 4: Weigh yourself
- Step on the scale barefoot. It turns on by itself.
- Keep both feet flat and stand still.
- Wait until the screen blinks twice. Your weight is now locked.
- The scale sends your weight over the cell network and turns off by itself.
When your weight is sent, the screen shows "OK". If the scale cannot connect, it shows the signal icon with an "x".
Step 5: See your weight
- AscendWell members: on your Dashboard.
- Ciba Health 1:1 patients: in Health Metrics, on the Metrics tab.
It can take several minutes for your weight to show up, depending on the cell signal.
If your weight looks wrong
- Check the floor: move the scale off carpet or an uneven floor, onto tile, wood or laminate.
- Weigh yourself again: barefoot, both feet flat, standing still. Do not step off until the screen blinks twice.
- Compare at the same time of day: weigh yourself at the same time each day, for example in the morning before you eat or drink.
- Someone else used your scale: the scale cannot tell people apart, so every weight goes to your account. Only you should use it. AscendWell members can delete the wrong reading: see Someone else used my scale. How do I delete the weight reading? Ciba Health 1:1 patients: contact support and tell us the date and time of the reading.
- The screen shows dashes (- - - - -): the weight is outside what the scale can measure (11 to 440 lb). Weigh yourself again.
- It still looks wrong: contact support. Tell us the date and time of the reading.
What the symbols on the screen mean
- Signal icon with an "x", E3, E4 or E6: the scale could not send your weight. Move it to a place with a stronger cell signal, for example closer to a window, and weigh yourself again. The scale can store up to 500 readings and sends them when the connection is back.
- E1 or Err: weigh yourself again. If it keeps happening, contact support.
- SIM error, E5 or E8: contact support. Do not change the SIM card yourself.
If something goes wrong
- I cannot find a button: you do not need one. The scale turns on when you step on it and turns off by itself.
- The screen does not turn on or shows a low battery icon: put in 4 new 1.5V AA batteries. A low battery can cause missing readings.
- My weight does not show up: wait a few minutes, then refresh the page or app. If it is still missing, contact support.
- The scale is not linked to your account: follow the connection article for your program in Step 2, or contact support.
